EYE ON THE WORLD: KENYA

JULY 11-24, 2025             STARTING AT $4300

Kenya Trip Criteria

As you consider participation in this trip, please read carefully the following cautions:

  1. Kenya, while a developing country, is still rather primitive as it compares to life here in the US.  Much of this trip will be spent in rural and rather remote areas. Sleeping will be in simple accommodations.  You should not participate in this trip if you have any ongoing medical conditions that are not easily and consistently managed well.

  2. You must be able to walk 2000 steps in a single session, and 5,000-10,000 steps on a given day, over uneven walking surface including steps.

  3. You will be traveling in 2 safari vans with 6 people per van.  Travel will include up to 7 hours in a single day.  The vans are adequate for our purposes but are not expansive.  You must feel comfortable in close quarters with your fellow travelers and on bumpy roads at times.

  4. Mobility while getting in and out of vans, multiple times a day, is something you must be able to navigate without issue.

  5. Travel flexibility is a must. While we make our plans well, often circumstances on the ground require us to adjust along the way.

We are a small group of travelers. The importance of self-awareness, in the above mentioned areas, helps to insure your personal safety and quality of experience and the experience of your fellow travelers. Please give these items careful reflection.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE...
Modern Nairobi cityscape - capital city of Kenya, East Africa.jpg

Nairobi

Our adventure will begin as we arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the capital city of Nairobi.  Home to 4.4 million people, Nairobi is a rapidly modernizing city on the edge of the Kenyan frontier.  With tall skyscrapers and modern highways along the open plains and grassland it is a place where giraffes and highways live side by side. So much history here as well.  It's also  a great place for us to worship our first Sunday with the Kibera Church in the heart of the city.  Lots to see and experience here our first couple nights.

Culture

The culture of Kenya is permeated with sights, sounds, flavors, and experiences that will, forever, leave a lasting impression on your memory.  Whether it's the  food cooking over open flames, the local tribal dances, the sounds of the rich musical heritage, or the vibrant worship of  congregations...it's all exciting.  And of course, there are the relationships with the Kenyan people themselves. You will have the opportunity to taste of the broad variety of all these things as we travel through and around the country.

The Work of CBH

While English is the official language of Kenya, the common native  tongue is Swahili.  It is widely spoken throughout much of central Africa and especially in Kenya.  Christian Broadcasting Hope has been speaking Swahili too...for decades!  Emanating from our studio on the Campus of the Kima International School of Theology, you will meet and visit our CBH team and see and participate in the ministry happening here.

Majestic Kenya

The natural beauty of Kenya is wide and varied.  There are the  green sweeping hills of tea country and the magnificent Rift Valley.  The open plains, teeming with animals, on the border with neighboring Tanzania will take your breath away.  Small villages, growing cities, Lake Victoria, and the Bunyore Hills...Kenya is a busy place filled with activity and energy.    It's all here in the majesty of this place!

"Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.  You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.  Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"                                        Psalm 8
